AN OPEN LETTER TO THE PUBLIC

This letter is shared in response to seeing an alarming number of
unvaccinated future mothers with poor outcomes that were prevent-
able. We recommend the COVID-19 vaccination as the safest and most
effective way of preventing serious illness in mothers, future mother,
and their families. Women who are getting married and starting a
family as well as mothers with growing families are strongly encour-
aged to accept the vaccination, unless there is a medical reason not to
do so (which is rare).

There are no good data supporting the circulating rumor that the
vaccine causes infertility or miscarriage or any harm in the unborn or
newborn. Having had Covid-19 infection does not fully protect against
reinfection, serum titers do not inform us of adequate immunity, and
the vaccination is strongly advised.

If you have specific questions, please speak with one of your doctors,
but as a general guide we and the CDC recommend the COVID vaccine
for all women in every circumstance.
